LI Rally Held Calling For Peace In Ukraine

The multi-denominational service took place in Long Beach.

LONG BEACH, NY — As uncertainty fills for families in Ukraine, despite more than 1.5 million people fleeing the war-torn country, Long Islanders gathered to urge the end of the bloodshed.

The Rally for Peace was held Monday night at Temple Emanu-El in Long Beach.

Attendees wore sunflowers as a symbol of peace.

The multi-denominational service also featured clergy from the Centerpoint Church, New Life Church, St. James-Jerusalem Episcopal Church and Temple Israel.

The rally was created to show support for the people of Ukraine and bring voices together in prayers for peace.

Organizers say approximately 200 people attended the gathering.
