Police ID Teen Who Was Killed While Biking In Oceanside
Police say he was riding his bike across the street when he was hit by an SUV Sunday evening.
UPDATE, 2:30 P.M.: Nassau County Police have identified the teen as Dylan Schuster, 14, of Oceanside.
According to the Oceanside School District, Dylan was a ninth-grade student at Oceanside High School. The district is making grief counseling available to students and staff.
"On behalf of our entire school district, we extend our deepest sympathy to Dylan's family," said Dr. Phyllis S. Harrington, the district superintendent.

ORIGINAL STORY: A teenage boy was killed on Sunday after he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle across a street in Oceanside.
According to police, the 14-year-old boy was crossing Daly Boulevard, near Long Beach Road, on his bicycle at 5:08 p.m. when he was hit by a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox.

The boy suffered multiple injuries and was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:21 p.m.
Police say the driver of the car remained at the scene, and a brake and safety check was conducted.
The identity of the teen has not yet been released. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
