Local Resident Inducted Into National Honor Society

LONG BEACH, NY — Julie Gavigan, a college student from Long Beach, has been inducted into Sigma Tau Delta, the national honor society in English.

Gavigan is a junior communications major at the University of Scranton.

For induction into the honor society, students must be majors or minors in English, theatre or secondary education/English, have maintained a grade point average of 3.5 or higher in English, theatre and writing courses and have an overall grade point average of 3.4 or higher.

The University's chapter of the honor society was established in 1980.
