Long Beach 2021 Local Elections: Candidates, Polling

LONG BEACH, NY — Election Day is Tuesday and here's what to expect when you cast your ballot.

Among the races, Nassau County Executive Laura Curran is up for reelection against Bruce Blakeman.

Long Beach native, and state senator, Todd Kaminsky looks to become Nassau County District Attorney. The Democrat is opposed by Anne Donnelly.

For County Comptroller, Ryan Cronin (D) opposes Elaine Phillips.

The Long Beach City Council has three open seats and two incumbents on the ballot-- John Bendo (D) and Michael Delury (R). Daniel Creighton, Roy Lester and John McQuade and Tina Posterli are also vying for seats.

In the Nassau County Legislature, Denise Ford (R) seeks reelection from the 4th district. Her challenger is Claudia Lovas.

There are four statewide proposals on the ballot.

• This proposed constitutional amendment would freeze the number of state senators at 63. Shall the proposed amendment be approved?
• The proposed amendment to Article I of the New York Constitution would establish the right of each person to clean air and water and a healthful environment. Shall the proposed amendment be approved?
• The proposed amendment would delete the current requirement that a citizen be registered to vote at least ten days before an election and would allow the Legislature to enact laws permitting a citizen to register to vote less than ten days before the election. Shall the proposed amendment be approved?
• The proposed amendment would delete from the current provision on absentee ballots the requirement that an absentee voter must be unable to appear at the polls by reason of absence from the county or illness or physical disability. Shall the proposed amendment be approved?
