Long Beach Alters Outdoor Events Amid Rising COVID-19 Cases
The city proposed dropping the street fair to the annual Irish Day event.
LONG BEACH, NY — With the rise of Delta variant cases of COVID-19, the city of Long Beach is making adjustments to some popular October events.
City officials are working on a plan for Irish Day on October 2 to reduce to spread of coronavirus.
They have proposed moving forward with the parade to honor St. Brendan, but without the typical street fair to follow, the city posted on its website.

They are awaiting confirmation from the organizer-- the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
The October 9 Fall Festival is going on, but with a socially distanced, smaller version. There will still be a costume parade and pumpkin patch for children at the recreation field.

"We urge all of you to try and limit large gatherings that could put both the public’s and our workforce’s health at risk. We will provide more information as it becomes available," the city added on the website.
