Bomb Scare Closes Long Beach Boardwalk

The scare only lasted for an hour while the Bomb Squad investigated.

The Long Beach boardwalk was closed for an hour Monday afternoon after police received a call for a suspicious package near the foundation.

According to authorities, the call for the package came in at 12:44 p.m. Long Beach police were told of a suspicious package near one of the boardwalk supports near Riverside Boulevard.

The boardwalk was closed between Riverside and Edwards Boulevard for about an hour while the Nassau County Police Department Bomb Squad investigated. The package was determined to be safe, and the area was reopened around 2 p.m.
