Long Beach Hispanic Heritage Month Kite Festival This Sunday

LONG BEACH, NY — Long Beach residents can celebrate the start of Hispanic Heritage Month at the fifth annual Hispanic Heritage Month Kite Flying Festival on Sunday, Sept. 20.

The Long Beach Latino Civic Association and the City of Long Beach, will host the free event from noon to 3 p.m. on the Laurelton Boardwalk. A beach cleanup will also be held from 2 to 3 p.m.

The festival will feature kite flying, live entertainment, cultural performances, family activities, local vendors, community organizations, and more, organizers said.

The annual event celebrates the contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities and will bring residents together to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.

"This festival is about bringing people together," said Mike Cruz. "We are proud to partner with the City of Long Beach to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month with an event that celebrates culture, community, and the diversity that makes Long Beach such a special place."

Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend, organizers said.

The Long Beach Latino Civic Association is also seeking support from local businesses and community partners through event sponsorships, donations, vendor participation, entertainment, activities, or help promoting the festival.
