Long Beach Legend, Former Lawmaker Donates To Hospital For Late Wife

Harvey Weisenberg gave $50,000 to Mount Sinai South Nassau to erect a plaque in his wife's honor.

LONG BEACH, NY — A plaque was unveiled at the Mount Sinai South Long Beach Emergency Department.

Former Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg, a longtime Long Beach resident, donated $50,000 to the hospital in honor of his late wife Ellen.

The Ellen Weisenberg Triage Area was newly named after a ceremony this week.

Weisenberg served the barrier island in the state Assembly from 1989-2014. A legendary figure of Long Beach, Weisenberg is also its longest-serving lifeguard.
