Long Beach Lifeguards, Firefighters Save Drowning Swimmer
The swimmer was pulled safely from the water, then given a ticket.

City of Long Beach lifeguards and fire department worked together Sunday night to save a swimmer in distress, who almost drowned.
According to the fire department, they received a call around 7:30 p.m. for a water rescue at Neptune Boulevard and Ocean Beach Park. When they arrived, they found the night crew from the Long Beach Lifeguards in the water rescuing the swimmer, who was unable to swim to safety.
When the lifeguards pulled the man to shore, he was evaluated by fire department paramedics. The man refused to be taken to the hospital or further medical attention. However, the Long Beach Police Department issued him a summons for swimming after hours with no lifeguards on duty.
