Nassau Man Pleads Guilty To Murdering Uber Driver: Prosecutors

Shaun Teemer also pleaded guilty to a separate hit-and-run that badly injured a 74-year-old woman, the Nassau County DA announced.

LONG BEACH, NY — A Long Beach man pleaded guilty Wednesday to the shooting death of an Uber driver last year and a separate hit-and-run that severely injured an elderly woman, prosecutors announced.

Shaun Temmer, 24, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, second-degreee criminal possession of a weapon, as well as leaving the scene of an incident without reporting as a felony and tampering with physical evidence.

He is expected to be sentenced to 20 years to life in prison when he returns to court on Aug. 2, the office of Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly said.

"Shaun Teemer is an extraordinarily violent defendant who has consistently broken the law," Donnelly said. "Humberto Manual Francis-Hernandez was an innocent cab driver working in the early morning hours of March 19, 2022, when this defendant shot him in the head and arm and left him for dead."

Francis-Hernandez underwent surgery, but his condition continued to deteriorate. He died four days after being shot, Donnelly said.

In the other prosecution, Teemer drove a rented 2020 Jeep Compass on East Park Avenue at the intersection of Pacific Avenue when he struck a 73-year-old woman in Sept. 2021. After hitting the victim, Teemer did not stop, prosecutors said.

The woman suffered a large laceration to her forehead and a compound fracture to her leg.

Donnelly recommended a sentence of 25 years to life for the homicide and seven years in prison with five years' post-release supervision to run concurrently with the homicide.
