LONG BEACH, NY — There is social media buzz that another unauthorized beach party is being organized this weekend at a beach along the boardwalk, police said.

Crowds are expected to start arriving early evening Saturday, police said in a Facebook post.

A party with more than 2,000 high school graduates at Ocean Beach Park earlier in the summer got out of hand with a gunshot and arrests, police said.

The Long Beach Police Department wants parents, friends and anyone in the community to "speak with our children and tell them not to attend this illegal gathering," they wrote on Facebook.

But they will take a proactive approach this weekend to the potential party, stepping up patrols at the beach and boardwalk. Police will address any people who start to assemble and violate city ordinances, they said on Facebook.
