Long Beach Resident to Run For Assembly

Former Nassau County legislator Jeff Toback will be running for the 20th Assembly District seat left open by Todd Kaminsky.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY - Former Nassau County legislator and Long Beach resident Jeff Toback recently announced that he will be running for the empty seat in the 20th Assembly District.

The seat was recently left vacated by Todd Kaminsky, who was elected to replace former Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos, who was arrested on corruption charges.

Toback was first elected to the Nassau County Legislature in 1999 and was re-elected five times until 2009, representing the 7th Legislative District, which includes Barnum Island, Bay Park, Cedarhurst, East Rockaway, Harbor Isle, Hewlett, Hewlett Bay Park, Hewlett Harbor, Hewlett Neck, Inwood, Island Park, Lawrence, Oceanside, South Valley Stream, Woodmere, and Woodsburg.

In addition, Toback, who works as an attorney in Oceanside, served as the alternative deputy presiding officer of the legislature and chairman of the Judiciary Committee.

In 2010, he lost the Democratic primary election when he challenged Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg.

“I will use the lessons I learned in helping to bring Nassau County back from the brink of bankruptcy to solvency, and apply them to the problems that are plaguing Albany, and weigh heavily on the hardworking residents of the 20th Assembly District and Long Island at large,” he told the Long Beach Herald.

Toback and his wife, Arlene, have three children: Rebecca, 13, Melissa, 10, and Danny, 7.
