Long Beach School Budget Vote, Trustee Election Tuesday

Here's what you need to know before heading to the polls.

Long Beach residents will head to the polls on Tuesday to cast their ballots for a proposed school budget and to elect school board trustees.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

  • Lindell - West School Election District: 601 Lindell Boulevard, Long Beach
  • 225 W. Park - MLK Center School Election District: 225 W. Park Avenue, Long Beach
  • East-Temple School Election District: 456 Neptune Boulevard, Long Beach
  • Lido/Middle School Election District: 239 Lido Boulevard, Lido Beach
  • Point Lookout School Election District: Firehouse on Lido Boulevard, Point Lookout

The Long Beach Board of Education is proposing a budget of $135,523,692 for 2016-17. That represents a 2.7 percent spending increase over the current year and it comes with a 1.68 percent hike in the school tax levy.

Voters will also elect school board trustees on Tuesday.

Incumbent Roy J. Lester will be running against challenger Perry Bodnar for the one open seat on the school board. The term will last three years.
