Long Beach Schools Name New Superintendent

Dr. Jenifer Gallagher has been chosen by the Long Beach Board of Education as the district's new superintendent following a months-long search. She will be officially sworn in at a school board meeting on Thursday.

Gallagher was formerly the district's Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. During the search, which began in the beginning of the year, she was named the interim superintendent for the district.

The Board of Education has been searching for a new superintendent since September. Gallagher is replacing David Weiss, who retired as superintendent at the end of the 2017-18 school year after holding the position for seven years.
