Long Beach's Tommy Sheehan Is 'Survivor' Winner
The fourth-grade teacher managed to outplay all the other contestants, and is now $1 million richer.
A fourth-grade teacher from Long Beach is $1 million richer after he won the latest season of "Survivor."
Tommy Sheehan, who teaches in the Floral Park-Bellerose School District, competed on the 39th season of the show, which was subtitled "Island of the Idols." The Idols were previous "Survivor" winners who mentored the new teams.
"Originally a member of the Vokai Tribe, Tommy's social game was strong from the start, winning over Tribe members with his school teacher charm," CBS wrote about his win. "Fairly early, Tommy and Lauren formed a bond and alliance, often working together to vote out mutual targets. Tommy convinced Noura he couldn't build fire, a strategy that ultimately led him to the final three and on to winner of Season 39 of 'Survivor.'"
