Long Island Commission on Aquifer Protection To Hold Public Hearings in Nassau and Suffolk

Nassau Hearing to be Held Monday, September 15; Suffolk Hearing to be Held Monday, September 22

The Long Island Commission on Aquifer Protection, created earlier this year as a joint Nassau/Suffolk initiative to assess threats to Long Island’s drinking water supply, will hold public meetings in both counties in the coming weeks to offer Long Island residents the opportunity to express their views on the Commission’s work and issues pertaining to groundwater protection.

At the hearings, to be held in Nassau on September 15 and in Suffolk on September 22, attendees will be given three minutes each to offer their input on the condition of Long Island’s drinking water and potential remedies to protect it. The testimony will be considered by Commission members as they develop a State of the Aquifer Report and Groundwater Resources Management Plan.
