Loop Parkway Drawbridge Not Closing This Month

The DOT says it can make repairs without closing the bridge and impacting traffic.

The New York State Department of Transportation announced that it would not be shutting down the Loop Parkway drawbridge for repairs this month.

Originally, the bridge was scheduled to be closed the weekend of March 23 for repairs, which would mean there would only be one way in and out of Long Beach for the weekend.

The DOT said that work will continue on the bridge, but will not impact traffic this month. DOT Spokesman Stephen Canzoneri said the project is on time and on budget. There are further bridge closures scheduled for early 2019.
