Man Caught With Drugs, Gun in Oceanside: Police

After his arrest, the man was admitted to a local hospital for an undisclosed illness and will be arraigned when practical, police say.

OCEANSIDE, NY - A Huntington Station man was arrested after he was found with drugs and a gun in Oceanside on Wednesday night, according to Nassau Police.

Members of the CIRRT team were patrolling in the Oceanside area when they saw a black Toyota driving southbound on Quebec Road pass through a stop sign at Lancaster Place, police said.

The car was pulled over and officers found that the driver, 38-year-old Robert E. Dandrea, was in possession of several glassine envelopes containing heroin, a container containing cocaine and a loaded .45 caliber Taurus semi-automatic handgun, police said.

He was placed under arrest at the scene without incident.

Dandrea is charged with second degree criminal possession of a weapon, four counts of seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and vehicle and traffic law violations, police said.
