Man Charged In Fatal Island Park Hit And Run: Police

ISLAND PARK, NY — A 31-year-old man has been charged in Monday's fatal hit-and-run crash in Island Park.

Nassau County police say they've charged Corey Henson, of Centereach, with leaving the scene of an incident involving a fatality and leaving the scene of an incident involving property damage.

The victim — 30-year-old Dodanim Emanuel Chavez, of Island Park — died at an area hospital.

Police say he was struck by Henson, who was heading south on Long Beach Road — just north of Marina Place.

Henson is due to be arraigned on Wednesday in Hempstead.
