UPDATE: Man in Critical Condition After Barbecue Explosion

OCEANSIDE, NY - A man suffered serious burns on his after a barbecue exploded at an Oceanside home on Thursday morning, according to Nassau Police.

The Oceanside Fire Department was called to a Bayside Avenue home at about 11:40 a.m. for a 64-year-old man who sustained serious burns to his body after the explosion occurred while operating his backyard brick barbecue, police said.

The man suffered extensive burns to the upper portion of his body and was transported to an area hospital for treatment where he is currently listed in critical condition, police said.

The investigation into this incident and the cause of the explosion is ongoing.
