Mount Sinai South Nassau Screens And Teaches Over 600 At Boardwalk Health Fair

The sixth annual Long Beach Boardwalk Health Fair was a chance for officials to raise awareness of conditions and how to treat them.

LONG BEACH, NY — Mount Sinai South nassau hospital held its sixth annual Long Beach Boardwalk Health Fair Saturday, giving walkers the chance to learn about their health and wellness without leaving the sunshine.

Spearheaded by the hospital’s Department of Community Education, the fair was part of an ongoing effort to keep the public healthy and prepare people for the moment someone else might need their help.

As part of that effort, Mount Sinai South Nassau officials gave 329 health screenings for everything from balance testing and sleep assessments to cancer screenings and cholesterol risk. The fair also allowed for the training of 35 Long Beach residents in CPR, 55 residents in stopping bleeding, and 10 residents in the use and administration of Narcan kits.
