Jack Schnirman Wins Nassau Comptroller Democratic Primary
Jack Schnirman and Ama Yawson faced off Tuesday for the Democratic nod.

Jack Schnirman is the Democratic nominee for the Nassau County comptroller's seat.
In a race that went back and forth as initial results came in Tuesday night, Schnirman, the current Long Beach city manager, has defeated Ama Yawson, a small business owner.
With all precincts reporting, Schnirman leads Yawson by a margin of 15,751-11,945, according to unofficial results from the Nassau County Board of Elections.

Schnirman will face Republican Steve Labriola in the general election in November.
The comptroller serves as the fiscal watchdog for Nassau County.
