Nassau Man Choked Woman, Stole Her Car Keys: Police

Police say the man threw and choked the woman before stealing her keys.

Nassau police arrested a man from Oceanside on Friday after they say he attacked a woman and stole her car keys.

According to police, officers responded to a call at 11:30 a.m. on Friday for a disturbance on 4th Street in Oceanside. While investigating, police say they were informed by the victim, a 33-year-old woman, that she had been attacked by Filippo Califano, 55. According to police, Califano threw the woman to the ground, choked her and took her keys from her hand.

Police located Califano and arrested him without incident. He is charged with second-degree robbery, second-degree assault and second-degree strangulation. He was arraigned on Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.
