Nassau Man Leads Officers on Chase After Holding Woman Hostage at Gunpoint Christmas Morning: Police

A Long Beach man was arrested after police say he broke into a house on Christmas day, held a woman at gunpoint and then led police on a foot chase.

Police say Lachance Bryant, 31, broke into a home on West Park Avenue and held a woman hostage. When police arrived at the scene, they say they saw Bryant fleeing. A foot chase ensued, and Bryant was apprehended shortly later and placed under arrest. Two officers suffered minor injuries during the chase, but were treated and released.

When he was arrested, police say that Bryant was in possession of two handguns. The investigation is still ongoing.

Bryant is charged with burglary: dwelling with an exposed or deadly weapon, second-degree kidnapping, four counts of first-degree criminal use of a firearm, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree menacing.
