Nassau Man Robbed Multiple Post Offices: Police

An Oceanside man was arrested on Friday after police say they determined he had robbed multiple post offices in Nassau County.

According to police, Nehemiah Bellamy, 28, of Brower Avenue, drove to the U.S. Post Office at 867 Hempstead Turnpike in Franklin Square at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 22, along with another person. Police say Bellamy entered the post office and requested a money order from the employee at the counter. The employee opened the drawer, and police say Bellamy reached in and grabbed numerous blank money orders. The employee tried to stop Bellamy, and a struggle ensued, police said. Bellamy was able to break away and make it back to the car, according to police, and flee the scene.

After an investigation, police arrested Belleamy on Friday, June 29 in Glen Head. The other person has not yet been arrested.

Police say that Bellamy is also responsible for the following crimes:

• June 18 – Bethpage Federal Credit Union, 750 Old Country Road, Westbury. (Possession of a Forged Instrument)
• June 18 – Bethpage Federal Credit Union, 210 West Merrick Road, Freeport. (Possession of a Forged Instrument)
• June 20 – U.S. Post Office, 260 Elmont Road, Elmont. (Grand Larceny)
• June 29 – U.S. Post Office, 1245 Hewlett Plaza, Hewlett. (Petit Larceny)

Bellamy was charged with third-degree robbery, five counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument, fourth-degree grand larceny and petty larceny. He is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday.
