Overlook At The Beach Won't Reopen This Year

The popular outdoor bar/restaurant isn't opening this season due to a dispute with its landlord.

Overlook on the Beach, the Long Beach location of the popular Overlook bar in Manhattan, will not be returning to its seaside location this year due to a dispute with the location's landlord, the bar/restaurant announced on its Facebook Tuesday.

The Overlook posted on Facebook Tuesday afternoon that the landlord of its Long Beach location, located at 5 New York Ave., declined to renew the lease with Overlook.

"As the construction on the beach would have limited our business, our landlord refused to work with us in returning," the Overlook wrote on Facebook. "Instead he chose to go behind our back and create a new lease with someone else who offered to pay more for rent."

Overlook at the Beach first opened in May 2012. It featured cocktails and bar food in an outdoor setting right on the sands of Long Beach.

The Overlook's Facebook post had many comments, all of them expressing support for the business. "Have been looking forward to the season with excitement for you guys all year," one person wrote. "So sorry for the news. Best of luck with all future ventures, and landlords! Will drop in NYC location to show support."
