Police: Drunk Woman Fled Long Beach Crash With 3 Kids in Car

The woman was arrested at her Oceanside home soon after the crash, police say.

An Oceanside woman faces a felony DWI charge after police say fled the scene of a crash in Long Beach Friday night with three children in her car.

Eileen F. Danon, 43, is charged with aggravated DWI, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, DWI and leaving the scene of an accident without reporting.

According to police, a Fourth Precinct patrol officer was assigned to assist Long Beach Police with a hit-and-run crash that occurred at West Park Avenue and Indiana Avenue. The officer, canvassing for the vehicle that left the scene, located the car and observed it pull into a driveway at 275 Links Drive West in Oceanside, police said.

When the driver of the vehicle, Danon, of that address, exited the car, the officer determined that she was under the influence of alcohol and placed her under arrest without incident at about 8 p.m., police said.

At the time of the incident, there were three children in Danon’s car–ages 6, 9 and 11. The children were left at the scene with a neighbor, police said. No injuries were reported.

Danon will be arraigned on Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
