Swimmer in Distress Rescued at Long Beach

The man was found clinging to the rocks and unable to swim.

LONG BEACH, NY - A swimmer was rescued after he was found clinging to the rocks and unable to swim in Long Beach on Thursday night.

The Long Beach Fire Department was alerted to a water rescue after a man was found to be in distress at Lafayette Boulevard and the Ocean Beach Park at about 7:26 p.m.

After finding him clinging to the rocks, members of the fire department entered the water and successfully rescued the swimmer.

He was transported to South Nassau Community Hospital for further evaluation.
