Swimming Advisory Issued at 3 South Shore Beaches
The advisory was issued due to the heavy rainfall.

If you were thinking of going for a swim on this hot day, you might want to avoid certain beaches.
Due to heavy rainfall, the Nassau County Department of Health issued a bathing advisory at three South Shore beaches for Tuesday.
Residents should avoid swimming in the waters at Island Park Beach, Hewlett Point Beach in East Rockaway and at the Merrick Estates Civic Association.

The advisory was issued as a precautionary measure for beaches known to be impacted by stormwater runoff caused by heavy rainfall which could elevate bacteria levels in the waters.
The advisory will be lifted at 8 a.m. on Wednesday unless there is additional heavy rainfall or water samples reveal elevated bacterial levels.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures on Tuesday will reach around 89 degrees.
