Uber Driver Kidnapped Teenage Passenger To Assault Her: Nassau DA
The girl was supposed to be taken from Atlantic Beach to Merrick, but the driver took her to Brooklyn. She managed to get away and call 911.
An Uber driver from Brooklyn was indicted this week on charges of kidnapping a 15-year-old girl. Authorities say he planned to take her to his apartment and sexually assault her.
Sean Williams, 32, was arraigned on Tuesday and charged with second-degree kidnapping, second-degree kidnapping as a sexually motivated felony, endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree unlawful imprisonment. He is due back in court on Sept. 18. If convicted of the top charge, he could face up to 25 years in prison.
“The family of a 15-year old girl relied on a car service to get their daughter home safely after she attended a Sweet 16 party, but the defendant allegedly kidnapped her and wanted to sexually assault her after giving her alcohol” said Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas. “The girl was terrorized by the defendant’s alleged behavior and bravely took action to contact police and free herself.”

According to Singas, on July 12, 2019, around 11:15 p.m., Williams, an Uber driver, picked up a 15-year-old girl from a Sweet 16 party in Atlantic Beach. He was supposed to driver her home to Merrick, but Singas said that Williams cancelled the route while they were still in Long Beach and tried to convince the girl to go drinking with him. Singas said he wanted the girl to go to his home in Brooklyn, where he intended to sexually assault her.
The girl refused to go with him, Singas said, telling him she was only 15 and asking him multiple times to take her home, but Williams continued driving the wrong way. When they reached Brooklyn, Singas said that the girl was able to convince Williams she needed to use the bathroom, and he pulled over on Linden Boulevard. The girl than ran into a nearby McDonald's and called the police.
