Work Begins To Repair Collapsed Sewer In Long Beach

Work is expected to take another week, and is going to be causing traffic problems in the area until then.

Work has started to repair the collapsed sewer in Long Beach, but it's still going to cause traffic problems for drivers this week.

For Wednesday and Thursday, the city's contractor will be installing bypass pumps to allow the damaged section of sewer pipe, which is located at the intersection of Roosevelt Boulevard and East Park Avenue, to be removed.

Because of the work, there will be no on-street parking on the south side of East Park Avenue between 736 East Park Ave. and Roosevelt Boulevard.

In addition, Roosevelt Boulevard will be closed between East Park and East Walnut to allow for installation of the bypasses.

The city says the emergency repairs are expected to be completed by Friday, Sept. 7. Drivers should try to avoid the area until then.
