LONG ISLAND, NY — The promise of an early summer at the beginning of the week has now turned to cooler temperatures and some rainfall across Long Island through Memorial Day Weekend, especially on Saturday.
Accuweather reported temperature drops of 20 to 30 degrees are expected to hit cities up and down the northeast and mid-Atlantic coastline, where millions experienced record heat earlier this week, including Long Islanders who felt the scorching 90-degree temperatures.

"Not only may cool-weather-sensitive individuals be reaching for jackets, but even some hardy cool-weather fans may feel the need for long sleeves," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Brett Anderson said. "The sudden chilly conditions can take a toll on some people, especially those with arthritis or muscle issues."
