NEW YORK — Incumbent New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli led the Democratic primary for state comptroller Tuesday night, according to unofficial results from the New York State Board of Elections.
Results showed DiNapoli with 529,779 votes, or 60.53 percent, with 10,579 of 12,853 election districts reporting.
Drew Warshaw had 168,074 votes, or 19.20 percent, while Raj Goyle had 114,989 votes, or 13.14 percent, according to the unofficial results.
The Democratic primary featured DiNapoli, Warshaw and Goyle. DiNapoli is seeking another term as state comptroller, an office that oversees state finances, audits agencies and manages New York’s public pension fund.
The results are unofficial. The state Board of Elections says election night results may change as valid ballots are processed and counted after Election Day.
DiNapoli is the 54th comptroller of the State of New York. A lifelong Long Islander, he was raised in a middle-class, union household and first won public office in 1972 as a trustee on the Mineola Board of Education, according to his official biography.
He later served in the New York State Assembly, representing the 16th District in northwestern Nassau County for 20 years. DiNapoli was elected state comptroller by the State Legislature in 2007 and was elected by voters in 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022.
