Assemblymember Lavine Grant Funds New Structure at Armor Museum

OLD BETHPAGE, NEW YORK – A new storage facility at the Museum of American Armor in Old Bethpage was built with funding provided by Assemblymember Charles Lavine (D-North Shore). A $250,000 grant that Lavine secured helped to cover the overall cost of a 9,000-square-foot storage facility. The new structure will enable museum officials to protect priceless World War II armor exhibits by placing them under cover. A prefabricated steel building, it sits atop eight inches of concrete that will allow the heaviest of the museum's tanks to be easily moved in and out of the facility as required.

"It gives me tremendous pride to help protect our nation's military history," Lavine said. "I personally enjoy every opportunity I get to go to this incredible museum which we are so fortunate to have in Nassau County," he added.

Assemblymember Charles Lavine represents New York's 13th Assembly District in Nassau County. He presently serves as Chair of the Judiciary Committee and is a member of the Committees on Codes, Ethics and Guidance, Insurance and Rules. Lavine previously served as Chair of the Election Law Committee, Chair of the Committee on Ethics and Guidance, co-Chair of the New York State Legislative Ethics Commission, and as Chair of the bipartisan Taskforce that produced the Assembly Speaker's Policy on Sexual Harassment, Retaliation and Discrimination.
