This follows a shooting at an elementary school in Bend, Oregon, where a teenage gunman killed three children and one teacher, according to PBS NewsHour.

NCPD said they conduct "intensified school patrols every day as part of our ongoing commitment to keeping our students, staff, and schools safe."

The department added that there are currently no known threats to Nassau County.

"However, we take these incidents extremely seriously and will continue to take every necessary measure to ensure the safety of our communities," police said.
