PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Blair was rescued from Georgia and adopted as a young puppy, but a change in her owner's health circumstances brought the 1-year-old dog back to the shelter.
"A heartbreaking situation that had nothing to do with Blair," shelter staff said.
The brindle hound mix is now staying at North Shore Animal League America's Port Washington campus while she once again awaits another chance at adoption.
Blair's situation is not unlike that of other animals who have returned to the shelter through no fault of their own. Her story is similar to that of Jean Grey, who was returned to the shelter before eventually finding a new forever home.
Shelter staff describe Blair as having a playful, goofy, and adventurous spirit with an eagerness to learn and a desire to bond with people.
"Blair, also known as Blair Bear, is the loving and most playful dog," shelter staff said. "She has some friends at the shelter she loves to play with and brings such joy to us all. She also has the sweetest face ever."
Blair is housebroken and crate-trained and knows basic cues. She enjoys chasing tennis balls, going on walks, and spending time playing with people.
More information and how to adopt Blair can be found online.
