Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines fighting techniques with fluid movement, acrobatics and music. Join us for a safe and beginner-friendly full body workout focused on improving coordination, stamina and mobility. All fitness levels are welcome.

Wear sneakers and comfortable clothes that you can stretch and kick in.

Background: Capoeira originated in Brazil during the 16th century as a form of resistance and cultural expression for enslaved Africans. Today it is practiced all over the world.

Instructors: Classes will be led by Instrutor Salseiro and Instrutora Esquila of Capoeira Guatambu Lower East Side. With over 20 years of experience in capoeira each, they teach classes for adults and children at Abrons Arts Center. They are inspired by the power of capoeira to build community, connecting people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds. www.capoeiraguatambu-les.com IG @capoeiraguatambu_les
