Gunman Posed As NYCHA Worker To Rob His Victim: NYPD

The robber showed a gun, demanded money, and burned the victim on his knees with a hot knife, police said.

LOWER EAST SIDE — A gunman posing as a New York City Housing Authority worker robbed a victim of $300 and burned him Wednesday night, police said.

A man posing as a NYCHA worker knocked on the apartment door of a 73-year-old man in the Vladeck Houses on Madison St. around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to police.

When the victim opened the door, the NYCHA imposter revealed a gun and demanded money from the man, police said.

The gunman then burned the victim on his knees with a hot knife, according to police.

Police said he then fled with $300 in an unknown direction.

The victim was taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Lower Manhattan in stable condition, according to police.

Police said the man is around 30 years old, 5-feet 9-inches tall, and 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black skullcap, a North Face with stars, blue jeans and black sneakers.
