LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — The gourmet sandwich shop BYGGYZ opened by renowned molecular gastronomy chef Dewey Dufresne will shutter next weekend after only ten months of business, a restaurant worker confirmed to Patch.
After taking six years to open, the 37-39 Clinton Street eatery known for its jam-packed sandwiches, which cost up to $16, will close its doors on July 1. The menu boasts just four sandwiches, including its signature "Byggybeef" made with braised beef short rib, American cheese, hot peppers, pickled vegetables, pomegranate demi-glaze and a house sauce made of mayo, mustard and sweet peppers. Foodies can sink their teeth into the loaded sandwich for $12.50 or $16.50 depending on the variation.
The upscale eatery's store front is closing but, Grub Street reports that Byggyz will still have a presence at both the Williamsburg and Prospect Park Smorgasburg locations.
