Post-It Pop-Up Project Moves 'Therapy Wall' From Subway System To Lower East Side
The creator of the Union Square "Subway Therapy" wall is bringing the idea above ground.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — Following Donald Trump's win on November 8, hundreds of colorful Post-it notes with uplifting messages covered a wall in the Union Square subway station. Dubbed "Subway Therapy," New Yorkers turned their collective grieve into an inspiring work of art. Now, the innovator and creator of the Post-it note wall, Mathew “Levee” Chavez, is recreating the installation on Norfolk Street from Jan. 23-30.

Chavez is an NYC-based artist who teamed up with big liquor brand Johnnie Walker to bring the "Subway Therapy Pop-Up" to the Lower East Side. Johnnie Walker’s is currently doing a Keep Walking America campaign to encourage "the ones who break barriers and embrace diversity," which coincides with Chavez's project.

The pop-up showcases an exhibit of preserved Post-it notes from Union Square. The exhibit aims to "create an opportunity for people to freely let their voices be heard through both written and spoken words on how we can all continue moving forward together," according to the press release.

New Yorkers are encouraged to share their hopes and concerns at the gallery pop-up space. Chavez wants to give the community a place to "transform uncertainty and apprehension into something beautiful."
