Want To Protest Trump, Lower East Siders? Rally In Tompkins Square Park Monday Night

Community organizers, elected officials, faith leaders and more ​will speak out against the Trump Administration's Executive Orders.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — Lower East Siders are urged to attend the "Lower East Side Rally Against Hate" in Tompkins Square Park from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday night.

Councilwoman Rosie Mendez, elected officials, faith leaders and community organizers will be in attendance to speak out against the Trump Administration's Executive Orders targeting Muslims and all immigrants.

According to the event's Facebook Page, speakers include: Councilwoman Rosie Mendez; representatives from The Urban Justice Center; Dr. Debbie Almontaser, Board President of the Muslim Community Network Islamic Council of America; Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer; Councilwoman Margaret Chin and many others.

"Though we suspected these executive actions would come in the first weeks of a Trump administration, it does not make them any less detestable or contrary to established American values that have endured through all modern Presidencies – both Republican and Democratic,” said Council Member Margaret S. Chin in a statement.

Over 1,000 people are attending the rally on Facebook.

Protesters can enter on 7th Street and Avenue B or Avenue A. The rally will take place in the open space of the former Bandshell area.
