In a key nod to Mahopac readers, lawmakers added the weekly Mahopac News as a supplemental paper, potentially increasing how often county decisions and hearings are formally publicized in the community.
   

• Community calls for justice outside Yorktown court in dog killing case (thetimesherald.com) — A Mahopac resident was among dozens who packed Yorktown Justice Court and rallied outside in the rain as a former NYPD officer faced charges in the fatal shooting of a well-known local dog. The brief hearing was adjourned, with the defendant due back in October, while residents from Mahopac, Yorktown, and beyond voiced safety concerns and demanded justice.
