22-Year-Old Man Killed in Crash on Southern State

The two-car crash occurred early Sunday morning, police say.

MALVERNE, NY - A 22-year-old man was killed in a two-car crash on the Southern State Parkway early Sunday, police said.

According to State Police, the accident occurred on the eastbound Southern State, west of Exit 17, in Malverne at about 3:41 a.m.

A 2004 Acura collided with a 2006 Toyota Highlander, causing the Acura to enter the south shoulder before striking several trees and a utility pole, police said.

A 22-year-old man in the Acura, Vito Errico, of Oceanside, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. No other injuries were reported.

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating the crash and police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact State Police Farmingdale at 631-756-3300.
