Four people were arrested and charged with the robbery of a young couple in Elmont in late July, Nassau County police said.

According to police, a 20-year-old man and 19-year-old woman entered the Elmont Deli at 237-01 Linden Boulevard at 3:30 a.m. on July 31. They then left the store and went back to their car. Shortly after they got into the car, two men approached the driver's door and opened it, police said. Police said they demanded the man give them property, but he refused. One of the men got into the back seat and began to choke the driver, police said.

The two men then stole cash and fled east, according to police, and got into the back of a car which had two other people in the front seats.
