Nassau County Man Accused Of Striking Laundromat Employee And Spiking Phone: PD

WEST HEMPSTEAD, NY — A man was arrested in West Hempstead Tuesday morning on accusations that he had attacked a laundromat employee in the early hours of the morning, hitting the man with his hands and spiking his phone on the ground, police said.

According to Nassau County police, 48-year-old Kevin Jemerson walked into Laundry Palace on Hempstead Turnpike and approached a 41-year-old employee whom he struck with his hands. Police said the laundromat employee "retreated to an employee-only area" of the laundromat to make a 911 call, but was followed by Jemerson who took his phone and threw it on the ground.

At this point, police said Jemerson ran out of the laundromat and was found a short time later by police. He was arrested without incident and there were no injuries reported at the scene, police said.

As for Jemerson, police said he is now charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment and will be arraigned Tuesday.
