Lynbrook Schools Superintendent Stepping Away After 26-27 School Year

LYNBROOK, NY — After almost two decades in Lynbrook Public Schools, three years as superintendent and 14 years in leadership positions, Dr. Paul Lynch will be stepping away from the district at the end of the school year, the district announced Thursday.

Lynch's last day will be June 30, 2027, the district said.

"While we have the privilege of continuing to work alongside Dr. Lynch throughout this school year, tonight's action provides an opportunity to recognize his remarkable service to the Lynbrook Public Schools," Board President Lesli Deninno said. "For the past 17 years, Dr. Lynch has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to our students, staff, families and community. Under his leadership, Lynbrook has continued to advance academic excellence while embracing innovation and a vision for the future. We are deeply grateful for his dedication, leadership and service. His impact on this district will be felt long after his retirement."

Lynch will continue to lead the district through this school year before retiring after his last day. In reflecting on a 17-year journey in the district, Lynch said Lynbrook has become more than a place where he clocks in and clocks out, and called the opportunity to work in Lynbrook "an incredible privilege."

"When I came to Lynbrook in 2009, I was told this community would become a second home, and after 17 years, I know that could not be more true," Lynch said. "It has been an incredible privilege to serve Lynbrook's students, staff, families and residents. I am especially proud of the work we have done together to bring the Profile of the Owl to life and prepare students with the skills and values they need for success in a changing World."

In an announcement of Lynch's retirement, the district said he had implemented key instructional frameworks as superintendent that will guide the way Lynbrook students learn even after he has moved on to retirement.

To that end, Lynch said he would remain "fully committed" to his role for as long as he remained in office.

"While I am looking forward to retirement, I remain fully committed to serving this community throughout the year ahead and working closely with the board of education to ensure a thoughtful and seamless leadership transition," the superintendent said. "Thank you for the trust and support you have shown me over the years. Lynbrook will always hold a special place in my heart."

As for his successor, the district said the BOE would be conducting a "thorough and transparent" search for the new superintendent.
