Associated In Malverne Opens for Business
The only supermarket in Malverne re-opens under new management.
The Associated supermarket in Malverne quietly re-opened for business Thursday morning under its new management team.
After weeks of cleaning up the mess the previous owner left behind, Carlos Pichardo and Noel Collado, the new management team in charge of Malverne's only grocery store, finally welcomed customers.
They posted "Welcome" and "Open" banners outside the store and officially put the supermarket back in business at 9 a.m. on March 17, about a week later than originally planned.

While they are considering this only their "soft opening" with plans to hold a grand opening in the next few weeks, most of the shelves were already well-stocked. The store also looked very clean and organized as the managers had when they spoke at the recent village board meeting.
Now, residents who have had to use stores in neighboring towns can get their fresh produce, frozen foods, cereals, dairy and other groceries in the village once again.
