Beautify Initiative Starts On Town Of Hempstead Downtown Streets
"Operation Clean Sweep" is a litter-removal program for the town's business districts.

OCEANSIDE, NY — In an effort to keep the Town of Hempstead looking clean and maintaining a good quality of life, Supervisor Don Clavin announced "Operation Clean Sweep" for downtowns and business districts.
The anti-litter initiative will include teams of Hempstead Town "Clean Sweepers," led by the Town of Hempstead’s Department of Sanitation. They will remove trash from main thoroughfares and walkways, the town said in a news release.
Similar programs were started in other towns across the country helping keep the environment clean and, in turn, supporting small businesses in those bustling areas.

"These public spaces are critical to the success of local businesses and our economy, and we want to do our part to remove litter, while protecting our environment and supporting our business districts, downtowns and neighborhoods," Clavin said in a news release.
Crews will be headed to various locations throughout the summer and fall, and throughout the year, where you'll find the nostalgic mobile "Operation Clean Sweep" carts.
