Benjamin Moelis Named National Merit Semifinalist

Lynbrook High School senior Benjamin Moelis was selected as a National Merit Semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program, an academic competition that acknowledges students who perform exceptionally well on the
Of approximately 1.5 million students who entered the competition upon taking the test, Moelis is among 1/3 of the 50,000 highest scorers nationwide to qualify for Semifinalist status. He is now eligible to advance to finalist level, which brings the potential to eventually receive a scholarship award.

A member of high school’s National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Compact Committee, Superintendent’s Committee and the Magic Arrows, Moelis has earned several other recognitions including the Prudential Spirit Award, Samsung STEM Award, and Nickelodeon Halo Effect Award. He is also a Scholar Athlete Award recipient and plays on the Varsity Football and Varsity Lacrosse teams.
Moelis is actively involved in the community as well and has volunteered for the Fly With Me Fund, Relay for Life, Israel Technology and Innovation Fair, and a local soup kitchen. He also tutors middle school students.
