As an avid reader of The Malverne Patch, I wanted to let you know that yesterday I stopped in to a wonderful little new knitting studio in our beautiful village of Malverne -- it was Basic Stitches located at 14 Broadway, Malverne, right next to the Malverne Fire House.
This wonderful knitting studio has been sitting there for months now and I never even noticed it or heard of it.
Anyway, I went in with my two girls -- ages 10 and 9 -- and what a great time we had.

We met the owner, Jean, and her sister Carol (forgive me if I am mistaken with the name) and they talked to us for about 20 minutes, showed us all the yarns and needles available and guided us in making our choices.
Well, let me tell you this, after sitting with them for more than an hour, we all walked out of there like knitting PROFESSIONALS!

These two wonderful ladies both have the patience of saints. They showed us over and over and over again exactly how to work the needles and the yarn. Jean did not stop showing us until she knew we "GOT IT."
As of late last night I am seriously, already, half way through knitting my scarf.
They offer free unlimited lessons right there in their shop. You can just stop in any time -- without even making a purchase if you are already working on a project -- sit and knit, have sweet conversation and feel welcomed as long as you stay.
Jean went as far as selling each of us different sized needles so I will never have to purchase needles from her again. I am now all set for greater endeavors. Do not think of you grandma's knitting -- this is different, updated and stylish.
I asked her if she would be interested in holding a "Ladies Night Out" or something like that and she said she would gladly open her studio any night we wanted. She is available for "group" sessions, like Girl Scouts or PTA parties too. She is very accommodating and is really open to any and all suggestions from her clients.
Anyway, I just wanted to pass this along to you so you can help spread the word! Let's visit and utilize our Malverne Merchants! I will be the mom sitting at the Malverne Little League games knitting my scarf. Feel free to come over and take a look.
To Miss Jean, I wish you the best and good luck to you.
